Clarence Bradley passes away

Clarence Bradley, Class of 1938, passed away Friday, July 10 in Fairmont.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Olive Harris Bradley, who died in 1987, and his second wife, Myrtle Greene Bradley, who died in 2010.


Nancy Louise Bradley Mason, Class of 1953, who passed away in 2013, was the daughter of Clarence F. Bradley, Sr. and Virginia Vanmeter Bradley.

Clarence F. Bradley, Jr., 94, of Fairmont, WV, passed away Friday afternoon, 7-10-2015, at Tygart Center, Genesis Health Care in Fairmont, WV. He was born October 18, 1920 in Hutchinson, WV, son of the late Clarence F. and Virginia Catherine VanMeter Bradley.

Brad was a graduate of Monongah High School in 1938.

He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, being stationed in Alaska, India and throughout the United States. He retired from Monongahela Power Company in 1983 in the Engineering Department. He was employed in the Fairmont Division for 37 years.

He was a Methodist by faith. Brad was a member of AFandAM, Acacia Lodge no. 157. He belonged to the Scottish Rite bodies in Wheeling, WV. His various hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and playing his harmonicas.

He is survived by three children and their spouses, Michael and Linda Bradley of Parker, PA, Jeffery and Janet Bradley of Fairmont, WV, and Pamela and Carlton Basnett of Fairmont, WV; his grandchildren, Heather L. Basnett of Alexandria, VA and A. Scott and his wife Erica Basnett of Fairmont, WV; a great grandchild, Mason Scott Basnett of Fairmont, WV; 4 step-grandchildren, JoElla Sell, Juli Ann Sell, and Jeremy Sell, all of Fairmont, WV, and Lynnie Bestic of Parker, PA, and several nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Olive Harris Bradley, who died in 1987, and his second wife, Myrtle Greene Bradley, who died in 2010, a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Eugene and Lydia Bradley, and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy L. and Gerald M. Mason.

Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 2pm till 8pm on Monday and 12noon till 1pm on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home, Tuesday, 7-14-2015, at 1pm, with Rev. Clyde Beard officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, WV. The family request that memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Clarence. They also need to thank Wishing Well Assisted Living and Tygart Center for their care, love, and support given to their dad over these past few months. Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960, who lives in Behoboth Beach, Delaware,  remembers the Bradley family.

“John:  The Bradley family lived 2 house up from our home on lower street in Worthington.  Clarence Jr. was always called June.  I knew

his brother Gene better than the other 2 kids.  I used to cut through the back of their house to get home.  Think Mr. Bradley worked in the

mines at Four States.”
