Bill Boyce’s brother passes away

Jerry Boyce, brother of Monongah’s Bill Boyce, passed away Wednesday, July 1 in Bridgeport.

Carol Reckart Boyce is Class of 1973.

The Monongah High Alumni blog has reported in recent years of the passing of Alma Gay Boyce of Fairmont, mother of Monongah’s Steven Boyce and Sheila Boyce Martin; and Eugenia "Genia" Mae Boyce of Monongah, a country singer.

Kim Boyce lives in Fairmont.

Alexis Boyce is the niece of the late Dewey Tarley.

Jerry Allen Boyce, 52, of Shinnston, passed away on Wednesday, Juy 1, 2015 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.


He was born in Marion County on May 2, 1963 a son of Chester Boyce of Fairmont and the late Anna Marie (Rushton) Boyce.
Jerry was an automotive technician, most recently employed by Astro Buick in Fairmont. He particularly enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bike racing in his younger years. He was a member of the Southern Cruiser Motorcycle Club. In addition, he liked taking care of his yard, going to auctions, projects with his father-in-law, and helping friends and family fix things.

Jerry especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his puppies, Wylie and Maggie Mae.


In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife, Colleen (Wolfe) Boyce; three sons, Johnathon Allen Boyce and his fiancée, Kayla Golden of Shinnston, William Lee Boyce of Fairmont and Sean Swiger of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Harper Swiger and Belamie Swiger of Kentucky and Johnathon Connor Boyce of Shinnston.


Also surviving is his father-in-law, who he was very fond of, Eugene Wolfe; three brothers, Bob Boyce and his wife Phyllis of Fairmont, Bill Boyce of Monongah and Gary L. Boyce and his companion, Kim Jenkins of Fairmont; his sister, Jane Lee (Boyce) Swaino of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Jerry was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jean Wolfe and a sister-in-law, Eugenia Boyce.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Thursday from 1pm to 8pm and on Friday from 11:00 to 1pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
