Junior Domico’s sister, Anna, passes away

Anna Burline Domico Sweeney, the late Nick “Junior” Domico’s sister, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30 in Parkersburg.

Junior, who founded the Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont on Gaston Avenue, passed away in 2014. He graduated from Fairmont St. Peter’s High School in 1947, attended Fairmont State College and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1951.

Anna and Junior’s parents were Nick Domico, Sr. and Jeanette Prezioso Domico. They lived in Monongah in the green house adjacent to Our Lady of Pompeii Church.

Anna Burline Sweeney, 87, of Vienna, WV passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV. She was born May 31, 1928 in Monongah, WV, daughter of the late Nick Domico, SR and the late Jeannette (Prezioso) Domico.

 
She was happily married to the love of her life, Bayard Sweeney Jr. for forty-seven years before his death in 1997.

Anna was a loving mother who is survived by four daughters, Lydia Sweeney of Vienna, WV, Brenda Rote and husband John Rote of Fairmont, WV, Patricia Lynn Stansberry and husband, loving son in law, Donny of Vienna, WV, Catherine Lezek, Morgantown, WV; four grandchildren, John Joseph Bayard Rote, Joel P. Massullo, Shaylynn Stansberry, and Sydney Stansberry; a sister-in-law, Ellen Domico; nieces and nephews, David and Jennifer Domico, Janet and Mike Jacquez, Greg and Maureen Domico, Tom and Sandy Domico, Laura and Tom Bonazza, LaVerne Sweeney, Jennifer Parsons, several great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, and long time friends JoAnn Davis and Dottie Nohe.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband she was preceded in death by her father in law and mother in law, Bayard Sr. and Clara (Underwood) Sweeney; her brother Nick Domico Jr., sisters-in-law, Elizabeth L. Sweeney and Gwendolyn Coffman; brothers-in-law, DuWayne Sweeney and LaMoyne Sweeney.

Anna was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Vienna, WV. She graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School in 1950 and worked as a Registered Nurse for several years. She had many hobbies that she enjoyed through the years. These included crocheting, knitting, and toll painting. One of her favorite activities was playing cards with her family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home located at 3005 Grand Central Ave in Vienna, WV from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5th at St Michael Catholic Church in Vienna, WV with Father John Gallagher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg. The arrangements have been made by Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont, WV. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.domicofh.com .
