Louie “Luigi” Ronald Miconi, Class of
1947, passed away Thursday, October 7.
He was married to Mary Catherine Duncil
Miconi for 63 years when Mary Catherine passed away in 2012.
His children are Beatrice A. Miconi Henderson, Class of 1972, who lives in Carolina,
and, all predeceased, Gabriel Miconi, who passed away in 1976, Nancy Fazio (whose
widower is Steve Fazio, my cousin and son of Francis Olesky Fazio and Renzy
Fazio) and Sts. Peter and Paul School and Fairmont State graduate Lisa Marie Miconi-Barnard,
who passed away in 2018.
Luigi’s siblings are Helen Buonamici,
Eva Miconi, America Miconi and the late Ann Miconsi, who passed away as an
infant in Italy, where Luigi was born.

Louie (Luigi) Ronald Miconi, 94, of
Carolina passed away on Thursday October 7, 2021 surrounded by family. Louis
was born on September 4, 1927 in Migliarelli, Comune: Montegallo, Provincia:
Ascoli Piceno, Italy to Italian immigrants the late Gabriele and Beatrice
(Lappa) Miconi.
He was 8 years old when he traveled
by ship “Rex” to the United States entering New York City Harbor on November
15, 1935. Once here they reunited with his father Gabriele who had already
immigrated to the United States. The family then settled in Carolina, WV.
He graduated from Monongah High
School in 1947. He then served in the 201st Army National Guards as staff Sargent in the
motor pool, and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
Louie worked as shop foreman at
Layman motors, which later became Michael Motors, then Urse Dodge where he
retired. He also owned and operated a garage repair shop.
He was a man of all trades. He was an
excellent mechanic and carpenter. He had several hobbies, such as raising fruit
and nut trees, gardening and bee keeping.
Louie is survived by his daughter
Beatrice A. Henderson, two sisters Helen Buonamici, Eva Miconi and one brother
Americo (Sally) Miconi. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Desiree (Joe)
Bombard, Danielle (Ronnie) Henderson, Christopher (Nicole) Fazio, Matthew
(Christa) Fazio, Vincent Fazio and Christian Collins and ten
great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is
preceded in death by his wife Mary C. Duncil Miconi, one son Gabriel (Terri)
Miconi, two daughters Nancy (Steve) Fazio and Lisa Miconi and one sister, Anna
Miconi who died at 9 months of age in Italy.
The family would like to give special
thanks to the home health nurses, physical therapist and Marion County Rescue
Squad for wonderful care.

801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Monday from 2-8:00 P.M. The Catholic Funeral
Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic
Church in Monongah with Fr. Jojan Joseph as Celebrant. Interment will follow at
Shinnston Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston.
A vigil service will held Monday
evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks
that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s research Hospital or WVU
Medicine Children’s Hospital.
