Paul Deahl surgery went well

Paul Stanley Deahl, Class of 1969, of Greenville, South Carolina, is recovering from his spinal fusion surgery.

Jay Holman, Class of 1971, reports:

Paul Stanley Deahl
"Paul came through surgery very good. He was taken off the ventilator right after surgery. But is spending the night in ICU. But hoping to go home tomorrow."

Paul grew up in Carolina as a son of the late Loretta Adeline Deahl and Horace Raymond Deahl. Paul’s brother, Anthony Deahl, Class of 1960, is deceased.

Paul was on the 1968 Monongah HIgh state championship team quarterbacked by Nick Saban, current Alabama head football coach.

Later, Paul played football for Fairmont State.

He fractured back vertebraes playing football for Monongah. Quick thinking by teammate Ron Manzo, who immobilized Paul’s neck, probably prevented even worse damage.

Paul also was struck by an automobile during his life.

Paul has been married since 2002 to Billie Deahl

He’s semi-retired and works at Auro Hotels. Billie works at Fresh Market in Mauldin, South Carolina.
