Barnhart retiring as Monongah police chief

Chief Barnhart
Rick Barnhart, who replaced Chris Veltri as Monongah police chief in August 2014, will retire from that post January 13, 2017.

The town is looking for a replacement.

Barnhart has 32 years of experience in police work. He came to Monongah from Salem, where Barnhart was a police lieutenant.

Chief Barnhart lives in Lumberport. He’ll continue part-time administrative duty in Worthington to help build up that town’s police department.

At Monongah, he instituted concealed weapons classes and unused prescriptions returns.
