Jane Kniceley Hulderman, 89, of Idamay passes away

Olive Jane Kniceley Hulderman of Idamay, who would have been 90 in August, passed away today (Tuesday, March 25). 

Her children are daughter Sylvia Ann (Hulderman) Edwards, Class of 1967, married to Ed, who live in Idamay (Sylvia previously was married to Don Fitzwater, Class of 1966);  and sons Raymond "Bugs" Hulderman, Class of 1966, married to Lorraine Snider Hulderman, Class of 1966, who live on Swisher Hill; Thomas Hulderman, Class of 1969, who lived with Jane Hulderman; and Don Pitman, Class of 1962, who lives in White Hall with his wife, also named Jane.

Grandchildren included Gary Hulderman, 1988 North Marion grad. 

There's also a Sylvia Hulderman Fitzwater, Class of 1967, among Monongah High alumni.

Olive Jane Hulderman
Olive Jane (Kniceley) Hulderman, 89, of Idamay, WV passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and received into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, (March 25, 2014) after a brief illness.

She was born on August 17, 1924, a daughter of the late Sylvia Jane Malcolm Kniceley and Henry Harvey Kniceley. Jane was born in Braxton County, WV and raised in Carolina, WV.


Jane was a homemaker and a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and a special friend to so many that were blessed to have known her.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter. Son, Don Pitman, his wife Joan of Whitehall, WV. Son, Raymond "Bugs" Hulderman and his wife Lorraine of Swisher Hill. Daughter, Sylvia Edwards and husband Ed of Idamay WV. Son, Thomas (Tom) Hulderman who lived with her and was so very close to her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Christine Sokolosky of Idamay, WV.


Jane loved her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and enjoyed sharing what was happening in their lives. All of them were so special and loved by her. They include Lisa Marie Matter of Columbus, Ohio, Mark Hulderman and wife Shirley of Fairmont. Tim Fitzwater and wife Heather of Fairmont, Gary Hulderman and his wife Kerri of Swisher Hill, Tammy Weintraub and husband Jacob of Brazil and Tracy and husband Joshua Eye of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by her special kids, Chandler and Sterling Fitzwater, Gary, Zack, Triston, Lexie and Logan Hulderman, Patrick and Trenton Hulderman. Samuel, Dina, Miriam and the latest little one, Liam. "Aunt Jane" also dearly loved her nieces, Charlene Collins, Faith Ann Haught, Melinda Diane Owens, Johanna Harris and Michelle Buckner.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Virgil Pitman, and her second husband Raymond O. Hulderman. Also, sisters, Frankie Martin, Charlotte Greboski, and brother Junior Kniceley. Also preceded in death was her precious grandson, Matthew, wife Andrea and her special little great granddaughter Lauren Ashley Fitzwater.


Jane was a member of the Zion Assembly Church of God in Idamay, WV. She lived a rich and full life, devoting herself to the Lord and his word. She depended on the strength of the Lord daily to guide her through her life's journey.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St. Fairmont on Wednesday from 5-9 pm and Thursday from 11 am – 1 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1 pm with Pastor Nieta Howard and Pastor Dennis Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston.
