Shirley Ann Minor Long passes away
Shirley Ann Minor Long, Class of
1962, passed away Sunday, May 2.
She was a widow of Lester Long, Class
of 1959.
Shirley was a bank teller in the
National Bank of Monongah for many years, once working alongside Debbie Soles
Shaver, wife of Air Force retiree Mark Shaver, and also worked at Westinghouse.
Shirley’s obituary:
Shirley Ann Long, 76, of Monongah,
finished her race on this Earth on May 2, 2021 by running into the arms of her
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Known as “Ge” to those closest to her, Shirley
was born November 4, 1944 in Smithfield, WV, the daughter of the late William
Minor and Mildred Jones Minor.
Shirley was employed by Westinghouse and was a bank teller in
Monongah for many years. She was hardworking and dedicated and put everyone
before herself.
She enjoyed WVU football and
basketball, watching tennis, as well as watching her grandkids, traveling, the
Game Show Network. She also made the best peanut butter fudge. Shirley had a
kind and compassionate spirit, loving God first of all. She supported her kids
and grandkids in everything they did and was their biggest fan.
She is survived by her children, Lester Long and his fiancée Robin
Wright, Mark Long and his fiancée Tricia Oliveto, William Long and his wife
Tina of Oklahoma and Jennifer Harvey and her husband David; and grandchildren
Patrick and Oksana Kissler of Germany, Austin, Justin, and Sierra Long of
Oklahoma, Talia and Joey Oliveto of Fairmont and Ella and Lily Harvey of
Monongah.
In addition to her parents,
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband whom she married July 29, 1962,
Lester Long, Sr.; an infant daughter, Joyce Ann Long; and a brother, Edward
Minor.
The family will receive friends at
Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Thursday, May 6, 2021
from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be at the Cross of Christ
Community Church, 256 Lydon Avenue in Monongah, on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00
a.m. with Pastor Karl Streyle officiating. Interment will follow at Enterprise
