Former Marion County commissioner Raymond
Prozzillo, who was a golf caddy living in nearby Westchester when I was also a
caddy at Fairmont Field Club, passed away Friday, July 3.
My Uncle Renzy Fazio’s sister, Angeline,
was married to a Prozzillo but I didn’t find a connection to Raymond. Renzy’s
wife was Frances Fazio, sister of my father, John W. Olesky, Sr. and Helen
Olesky Kerekes, who married Steve Kerekes of Carolina.
Renzy’s other sisters married into the Pasquale (Mary
Virginia), DeCarlo (Edith), Domico (Elizabeth) and DePond (Carmella) families.
The address I googled for Delores V.
Prozzillo, Raymond’s wife, was 106 Mazewood Drive in Fairmont. She was listed
as an incorporator of Raymond’s Enterprises, which included restaurants, coal
mines and a construction company.
Monongah caddies regularly beat up on
Westchester caddies to discourage competition for the jobs that paid $1.25 plus
tip for carrying TWO golf bags for 18 holes (75 cents for carrying one golf bag
for 18 holes).
There was a time when Westchester caddies
caught me and other Monongah caddies swimming in the West Fork River by the
golf course, using the swinging bridge that got residents to the other side of
the river as our “diving board,” and they returned the favor by beating on us.
