Former Monongah police chief passes
away at 56
Former Monongah and Rivesville police
chief Chris Veltri, a Sts. Peter and Paul School graduate, passed away Sunday, July 9 at the age of 56.
Chris
was born in 1961 in Fairmont to Samuel L. and Nancy Lehosit Veltri.

son is Tony Veltri, who lives with his wife Tessa in Fairmont.
His
siblings are Bruce Veltri and his wife Angie of Farmington; Elaine Veltri of
Greenville, South Carolina; and Josh Veltri and his wife Melissa of Farmington.
He was retired from the Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina Police Department.
Veltri resigned as Monongah police
chief in 2014. Rick Barnhart, who came
from the Salem Police Department to replace him, retired in 2017. Terry Queen, a
police trainer in Clarksburg, replaced Barnhart.

Anthony Christopher Veltri, 56, of Mononah
passed away July 9, 2017. Chris was born January 4, 1961 in Fairmont, the son
of Samuel L. and Nancy Lehosit Veltri. He was retired from the Myrtle Beach
Police Department and served as the Police Chief for the Rivesville and
Monongah Police Departments.
Chris was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic
Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Chris is survived by one son, Tony Veltri and
his wife Tessa of Fairmont; three siblings, Bruce Veltri and his wife Angie of
Farmington, Elaine Veltri of Greenville, SC, and Josh Veltri and his wife
Melissa of Farmington; two grandchildren, Tyler Veltri and Seth Veltri; two
nephews. Kash Veltri and Joshua Veltri; and six nieces Brandiann Garfold, Mary
Elizabeth Gaston, Maria Veltri, Miranda Veltri, Mikaela Veltri, and Melaina
Veltri. He was preceded in death by a brother Johnny Joseph Veltri.
The family will receive friends at Domico
Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave, Fairmont, on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in
Monongah on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Vincent Joseph as
the celebrant. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Online
