Dottie Huffman passes away

Dorothy “Dottie” Huffman of Monongah passed away Sunday, November 19. She was married to Richard Huffman.

Monongahfest vice president Roger Huffman and Monongahfest secretary Diane Huffman Prunty are siblings along with Richard Huffman, Jr. and Rodney Huffman, who all live in Monongah. Another sibling is the late Christopher Huffman. Diane and husband Mike Prunty run the game booths and town-wide yard sale at Monongahfest.

Rodney Huffman, 1986 North Marion grad, her grandson, is married to Ashley and lives in Monongah.

Jean Fullen Huffman, Class of 1952.

Lindsey Huffman, son of Paul and Pauline Wells Huffman, who was on the 1963 Monongah High football team.

Joy Huffman Gower, Class of 1970.

Goldie Basagic Huffman, Class of 1974 and a former Monongah High cheerleader, married to retired coal miner John R. Huffman, Class of 1974.

April 25, 1941 - November 19, 2017

Dorothy “Dottie” Huffman, 76, of Monongah, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born April 25, 1941 in Grafton, daughter of the late William and Lucy Tucker Guthrie.

 

Dottie is survived by her husband, Richard Huffman; five children, Richard Huffman, Roger Huffman and wife Kim, Thomas Huffman and wife Toni, Diane Prunty and husband Michael, and Rodney Huffman and wife Melissa, all of Monongah; grandchildren, Rachel Hardesty, Rickie Rose Huffman, Roger Huffman II (Ashley), Lauren Huffman, Brooke Huffman, Kelsey Cottrell (Rusty), Chloe Huffman, Jennifer Smith (Michael), Christopher Wilson, Samuel Wilson, Zachary Prunty, Kelsey Prunty, Chaz Colanero, Chase Colanero, Isabella Huffman, Samantha Lemley, and Jessica Huffman; great grandchildren, Adaleigh Hardesty, Cannon Radcliff, Nevaeh Massey, Amelia Cottrell, Elias Cottrell, Bridget Smith, Margaret Smith, Braydon Prunty; a brother, William Guthrie and wife Josephine of Alabama; and a sister, Rose Mary Mullennex and husband Frank of Hendricks, WV.

 

In addition to her parents, Dottie is preceded in death by a son, Christopher Huffman; and grandson, Christopher Watt Huffman; and four siblings, Patty Larew, French Guthrie, Bob Guthrie, and Harold Guthrie.

 

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with Father Vincent and Father Das as celebrants.
