Laurann should
be thrilled that she’s not living in the 5th century BC when they
used a blunt instrument to shatter the zonules in the eye. The first surgical
removal of a cataract was in Paris in 1748. Dr. Charles Kelman in 1967 came up
with the phacoemulsification surgery that has been improved into today’s
highly successful surgries.
Laurann is married and lives in
Enterprise and worked at WVU Hospitals. Nicole Knox Vance is her sister from
Catawba who lives in Fairmont.
