Chloe Anne Fullen, wife
of Bernie Fullen, Class of 1963, for 43 years, passed away in Massillon, Ohio
where they lived. Chloe was from Webster Springs, West Virginia.
Facebooked Bernie: “I
miss her terribly. It was the hardest day of my life.”
Since my wife of 48
years, Monnie Elizabeth Turkette Olesky of Cinderella, West Virginia, passed
away in 2004, I have an inkling of what Bernie is going through.
It isn’t easy
and no one can do it for you. Like Bernie, I was “all shook up.”
Bernie played basketball
at Monongah High.
If you want to send
condolences to Bernie, his address is:
Bernard Fullen
131 Star Circle NW
Massillon, OH 44646
And his phone number is (330) 904-7739.
Bernie plans to visit his brothers in Clarksburg
and Fairmont, starting Thursday, June 25.
Bernie’s brothers are Arley Hayhurst, who lives in a Nutter Fort nursing
home; Don Fullen, who lives in Falls Church, Virginia; and Delbert T. “Ted”
Fullen, who lives in Pennsboro, near Parkersburg.
Tara McHenry of
Greenwood, Indiana is Bernie and Chloe’s granddaughter. She called Chloe “Mimi”
and Bernie “Poppy.” There were no calling hours for Chloe, who was cremated.
The Fullen brothers’ sister, Eva Geraldine
“Gerry” Fullen Ross, Class of 1950, has lived in Harbor Beach, Michigan, “a
block from Lake Huron,” Gerry says, for 46 of her 62 married years to former
Detroit firefighter Don Ross.
Other than sinus problems, Gerry says she’s doing
“not bad at all” for an octogenarian.
Gerry was a live-in
maid, beginning at age 18, for a Bridgeport pastor, who gave her the nickname
“Gerry” that has stuck to this day.
When the pastor was reassigned to
Moundsville, Gerry found other maid work before joining the Air Force for two
years.
That’s where she met Don
Ross, even though he was in the Army. Don was stationed at Fort Holabird near
Baltimore, where the Air Force also had a base.
That conveniently caused Don
and Gerry to meet and marry despite being in different branches of the service.
Gerry’s phone number is
(989) 712-0981.
