Larry Orsini’s son passes away

Gary “Tommy” Orsini, whose father Larry Orsini was one of the famous Monongah High Orsini brothers who were excellent athletes, passed away Tuesday, September 4.

Larry Orsini played for the 1944 Monongah High football team. He married Gladys Palmer Orsini.

Larry was one of the six athletic Monongah High Orsini brothers: Tom “Bum”, Tony, Jimmy, Junior (“Cocoa”) and Bill.

 

Jimmy resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Tony, Class of 1946, married Mary Louise Baker Orsini, who began at Monongah High with the Class of 1948. Mary Louise passed away in June.

The other Orsini brothers are deceased.

Gary’s obituary:

Gary “Tommy” Thomas Orsini, 61, of Pennsboro, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the United Hospital Center.

He was born in Fairmont on December 23, 1956 a son of the late Larry Orsini and Gladys (Palmer) Orsini.

He served his country in the United States Army and had worked as a coal miner at the Robinson Run Coal Mine. Tommy’s favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle and spending time with his many friends and family.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Debbie Scheuvront of Pennsboro; three sons, Daniel Orsini of Fairmont, John Orsini and David Orsini both of West Virginia; a daughter Brittany Hayes and her Finance Matt Schultz of Alabama; several grandchildren including Alexis Lipscomb and stepsisters, Joni, Beth and Nancy and uncles, Bob, Tony and Jimmy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Orsini and his Stepmother, Josephine.

Friends and family will be received at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont WV on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 10am to Noon. The funeral service will follow at Noon on Friday with Pastor Matt Holbert officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council Military Honor Guard.
