Turning a WVU football game into a Monongah High alumni reunion
is automatic.
Before the Liberty game Saturday, which the Mountaineers won,
44-17, Bill Meredith, Class of 1957, who lives with wife Roleta in Sarasota,
Florida and Buckeye Lake, Ohio; Jackie Olesky Straight, Class of 1955, who
lives in Rivesville; and John Olesky, Class of 1950, who lives in Tallmadge,
Ohio and was there with his daughter, Monnie Ann, of Brunswick, had lunch at
the Olive Garden on the University Town Centre hill just off I-79.

At the game, John ran into Becky Shelosky Carvillano, Class of
1961, who lives in Fairmont and is the widow of a Fairmont West grad.
Becky was sitting in Section 105 with Tony Eates, Class of 1950, who lives in Fairmont, and
Tony’s wife, Lucy Cann Eates.
Becky is a daughter of Julia Lazorick Shelosky and Stanley
“Strob” Shelosky, the late superb golfer at Green Hills. Becky grew up next door
to the Kasper family, which included Bob Kasper, Class of 1950, who lives in
South Lyon and Presque Isle, Michigan, and Evelyn Kasper Boggess, who lives in
her childhood home in Frogtown with her husband, Okey Boggess.
Becky asked how Bob was doing. She knew that I had visited Bob
because Becky is a reader of this Monongah High Alumni blog. And that Bob had beaten me 4 out of 5 golf outings at Rogers City Golf club (I did tie Bob one day).
Becky’s brother, Tom Shelosky, lives in Monongah.
Julia passed away in 2013, Strob in 1993.
George Shelosky was Strob’s brother.
Barbara Shelosky, who stays in touch with the Monells, moved
from Monongah to San Diego, California. So did Andrea Shelosky.
Bernie’s late aunt, Sophie Dudiak Shelosky, was a sister of Mary Dudiak Raymond, who was married to Angelo
Raymond and the mother of the late Bobby Raymond, Class of 1951, and Rosemary
Raymond Pagliaro, wife of Carman Pagliaro, who lives in Fairmont.
