Kayla Marie Decker, granddaughter of Arlene
Marteney Decker Edgell, Class of 1951, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20 after a
motorcycle accident.

Kayla Marie
Decker, 17, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 in Core, WV
as a result of a motorcycle accident.
She was born July
7, 1998 in Fairmont, the daughter of Jim and Karen Decker of Fairmont. Kayla
was a member of Life United Methodist Church of Fairmont and frequently
attended Wadestown United Methodist Church. She was a senior at Fairmont Senior
High School.
Kayla's high
school activities included being a member of the Student Council, Ski Club,
Bible, Interact, and Key clubs, as well as FBLA, NURU, and the Polar Bear Band.
She was involved in soccer, lacrosse, and was a wrestling mat maid. Kayla was
on the honor roll, and was selected to attend the Rhododendron Girls State. She
was a member of the Fairmont Senior Young Life, Dash Ministries, and Lydia's
Circle. She participated in her church mission trips and was recognized by
Times West Virginian as an everyday hero in Fairmont for assisting local
elderly.
Kayla volunteered
her time at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center, Soup Opera, vacation Bible
school, Salvation Army, and the Arbors Nursing Home. Kayla loved life. She
loved helping others, playing sports, and spending time with her family and
friends. Anyone who knew Kayla knew she was a “Blessed Girl”.
Survivors include
her parents, Jim and Karen Decker, her brother, Jonathan Eugene Decker, her
grandparents, John and Shirley Jones, Arlene and Okey Edgell, and her great
grandmother, Marie Jones. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Kevin
Jones, Kathy and Ronnie Keener, Kristi and Kevin Chisler, Jack and Debbie
Decker, Susan Brown, and Bill and Angela Decker, as well as her close cousins,
Zackary , Alicia, and Trenton Keener, Tyler and Ashley Chisler, Chris,
Stephanie, Logan and Emily Decker, Brittany, Chuck, and Jackson Paige, Courtney
and Patrick Brown, and Haley and Aaron Decker. She is also survived by many
other friends and family.
She went to Heaven
to be with her grandparents, Eugene Decker, Robert Jones, Charles and Freda Phillips,
and her uncle Lewis Brown.
Friends and family
may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont,
on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 2PM until 9PM. Visitation will continue on
Friday, September 25, 2015 from 11AM until 1PM at the South Ridge Church, 1659
Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont. A funeral will be held in the church on Friday, at
1PM with Reverend Larry Buckland and Reverend Rose Saunders officiating. The
family requests that everyone wear their pink in honor of Kayla and the love
she showed in all that she did. Graveside services will follow at the Woodlawn
