Will the real Rick Yanero stand up?

I have so much egg on my face that I could make omelettes that would feed the entire WVU football team.

On Jan. 28, 2015 I published a Monongah High Alumni blog article congratulating Rick Yanero on his birthday. I identified him as Rick Yanero, Class of 1971, of Dover, Delaware, once owner of Rick's Bellview Lounge in Fairmont and married to Harriet Yanero.

Man, did I get this one wrong.

This “Rick” Yanero really is Richard “Dickie” Yanero, who lives in Dover, Delaware and is married to Harriet Yanero.

Dickie’s cousin is the real Rick Yanero, who DID once own Rick’s Belleview Lounge in Fairmont. But he is married to Jennifer Jane Sabo Yanero.

The real Rick Yanero is a retired Fairview Loveridge Mine coal miner living in Barrackville with his real wife, Jennifer.

Rick Fay Yanero and Jennifer Jane of Sycamore have been making goo-goo eyes at each other for a long time, going back to fifth grade at Thoburn School.

The real Rick’s siblings are Rosalie Yanero Kleman, Class of 1959, in California; and, in West Virginia, Sandy Yanero Hatley, Class of 1960; Frank Yanero, Class of 1964; Alfred Yanero, Class of 1967;  and Larry Yanero.

The real Rick played in some of the Monongah High Alumni Reunion golf scrambles at Green Hills, as I did (with Bob Kasper and Tony Eates, my fellow Class of 1950 classmates; we finished last in 2000 and successfully defended our status in 2010).

The real Rick’s other cousins include Pamela Yanero Bragg, Class of 1969, Fred Yanero, who was a successful high school basketball coach in Ohio and Baltimore, and Daniel Yanero, Class of 1961, who died 1977.
Pam & Fred’s cousins include Chris Yanero, Class of 1971, and Kim Yanero, Class of 1974.

Chris Yanero also is Real Rick’s cousin.
This is not the first time I’ve mishandled an article about Yanero family members in this blog.

In my feeble defense, there are so many of them that it really is difficult to keep track.

For example:
Ron Yanero, who performs in the Jenna Won’t Sing band, Monongah’s premier musical group.

Barbara Yanero, who spent 15 years as a chef, including one year in Italy, before becoming a pastry chef at WVU and lives back on her family’s property on Shaver Street in Monongah.

Roger Fay Yanero, son of Albert and Ester Coleman Yanero, who died in 2014. Roger’s daughter, Patricia Yanero Herron, lives in Monongah. Roger’s widow is Elizabeth Stahl Yanero of Fairmont.  Their other children are Roger Fay Yanero Jr. and his wife Joslyn of Barrackville, Patricia Herron and her husband Kevin of Monongah and Betty Phillips and her husband Geoff of Fairmont.

Roger’s brothers are Robert Yanero of Monongah, Eugene Yanero and the late Edward “Eddie” Yanero.
There are TWO Sara B. Yaneros. Sara Bright Yanero is Class of 1969 and Sara B. Yanero is a 1992 North Marion graduate.

Also:

Danny Yanero, Class of 1939

 Fred Yanero, Class of 1957

Thomas Yanero, Class of 1963.

Marcia Bradley Yanero, Class of 1963.

Susan Yanero Fried, Class of 1965.

Jennifer Sabo Yanero, Class of 1970.

Christopher Yanero, Class of 1971

Kim Yanero, Class of 1974

Diane Yanero, Class of 1977.

Linda Phillips Yanero, Class of 1977.

God, I hope I have all the Yaneros straight. But don’t bet on it. Email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com if you can straighten me out of any of the Yaneros, or know of other Monongah High Yaneros.

I’m sure there are more lurking somewhere.

Whew!
