Former Marion sheriff passes away
Ronald Watkins, with the Marion
County Sheriffs Department from 1975 to 1989 and as sheriff from 1993-2000,
passed away Thursday at WVU’s Ruby Hospice Care in Morgantown. He was born and
lived in Fairmont.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of
44 years, two daughters, one granddaughter and a brother.

I was in
Worthington the night that car bomb exploded.
Blew all of the windows out of my Grandfather's house across the street
from the gas station. It blew Ron Watkins
several feet; do not know how he survived.
He looked
Terrible; was
so glad he did survive and was elected Sheriff 2 times.
