DAVID LORETTA, CLASS OF 1961, PASSES AWAY

 

David Loretta, Class of 1961, passed away December 2, 2021.

His wife, Saundra Ann Tetrick Loretta, who was Maid of Marion in 1966 and on the Monongah High Prom Court in 1965 with my cousin, Irene Fazio Preolitti, whose mother, Frances Olesky Fazio, and my father, John W. Olesky, Sr. were siblings along with Helen Olesky Kerkeres. Saundra’s Prom Court escort was escorted by Richard Davidson. Saundra joined Monongah High girls Judy Blocker Kincaid in 1965 and Judy Lipinski Cook in 1958 as Maid of Marion.

 

Dave was from Bingamon and Saundra was from Carolina. They moved to Moundsville and St. Clairsville, Ohio, where Saundra passed away in 2010. She was a member of the Moundsville Woman’s Club.

 

Their children are daughter Johna Loretta Fogle and son Jason Loretta. Saundra’s brother is Roderick Fay “Rocky” Tetrick, Class of 1964, who will officiate at David’s funeral service at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Moundsville on Sunday. Saundra and Rocky’s parents were Robert Tetrick and Betty Burner. 

Saundra’s stepfather was Bill Bunner, widow of Betty Tate Bunner, Class of 1944. They were married for 49 years. William “Bill” Henry Bunner also was Rocky’s stepfather. William Henry’s sons were Bill Bunner and Bruce Bunner.

Patricia Ann Tetrick Judy, a retired Watson Elementary teacher who passed away in 2015 and was a daughter of Gladys and Paul Tetrick, and her brother, Robert Tetrick, were Rocky’s aunt and uncle.

David attended the 2017 and 2011 Monongah High Alumni Banquets. David and Saundra were at the 2006 reunion.  

David’s obituary:

David Thomas Loretta, 78, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Cumberland Point Center, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

He was born on April 17, 1943 in Fairmont, son of the late Joseph Samuel and Marcella Loretta.

David was retired C.O.O / Director of Operations from Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Saundra Ann Loretta; brother, Robert Loretta, and his niece, Kelly Benson.

Surviving are his children, Johna (Chris) Fogle of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Jason Loretta (Cherie Walker) of St. Clairsville; three grandsons, Jayden Loretta of St. Clairsville and Griffin and Maxwell Fogle of St. Clairsville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2 p.m. until time of services at 5 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville with Rocky Tetrick officiating.
