WVU grad Frank Kyer passes away

10 children survive, 6  in Marion County

 

WVU graduate William Franklin Kyer, who owned Preffered Benefits of West Virginia Insurance Company in Fairmont and has most of his 10 children living in Marion County, passed away Wednesday, September 2.

His widow is Barbara Jean Gillispie Kyer.

His children are Ron and Cheryl Sinsel of Sunbury, Pennsylvania; Chris Sinsel of Hinesville, Georgia; Colin Sinsel of Mannington; David Kyer of Fairmont; Zach Kyer of Texas; Nathan Kyer of Worthington; Nick Kyer of Monongah; Amanda Kyer Moore of Fairmont; Ronette Kywe Nichols of Fairmont; and Lisa Kywe Contreras of Seabrook, Texas.

Frank’s obituary:

William Franklin Kyer, 74, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1946 in Morgantown, WV a son of the late Arthur and Clara King Kyer.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Gillispie Kyer. Mr. Kyer was a graduate of University High School in Morgantown and of West Virginia University. He was a veteran with the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Highland Avenue United Methodist Church in Bellview where he was the past president of the United Methodist Men and served as an usher in the church for many years.

Frank was the owner and operator of The Preferred Benefits of West Virginia Insurance Company and was the former owner of Mountainside Homes Inc. Frank was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Fairmont # 2373, the Fairmont Moose Lodge No.9. and the V.F.W. Post of Fairmont. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing poker with his friends, as well as dancing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven sons, Ron and Cheryl Sinsel of Sunbury, PA, Chris and Cindy Sinsel of Hinesville, GA, Colin and Tammy Sinsel of Mannington, David and Kelsey Kyer of Fairmont, Zach Kyer of Texas, Nathan Kyer of Worthington, and Nick Kyer of Monongah, his three daughters, Amanda and Tyler Moore of Fairmont, Ronette and Nick Nichols of Fairmont, and Lisa and Jesse Contreras of Seabrook, TX, and his brother, Ralph Kyer of Morgantown. As well as, 21 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 12 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Kyer. Memorial donations may be made to the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church, 204 Highland Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV.
