Charles Christopher passes away

I received belated word from Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960, who grew up in Worthington and lives in Behobothbeach, Delaware, that Charles Christoper, Class of 1959, who played football at Monongah High and Fairmont State before becoming an FBI agent, passed away October 30 in Dowington, Pennsylvania.

Charlie was predeceased by his wife, Janet Louise Wolf Christopher.

Charlie's brother, Tom Christopher, is married to Marlene Davis Christopher, Class of 1962, a regular at Monongah High Alumni Reunions in recent years.

Charlie’s parents were Charles and Anne Christopher. He grew up in Four States.

Charlie served his country with three tours of duty as a Marine in Vietnam in the 1960s. He retired from the FBI in 1999. Charlie was in the National Park Service at Mammoth Cave in Kentucky before his FBI days.

Charlie and Harold Kniceley were friends at Fairmont State.

Charlie’s brother, Tom Christopher, was Class of 1960. I also found a David Christopher, Class of 1973, who lived in Idamay, but he’s not listed in the obituary. Only survivors are.

Charlie’s obituary:

Charles Christopher, Sr., a resident of Downingtown, PA, age 79, passed away on October 30, 2020 in Coatesville, PA.

Born in Jenkins, KY, and raised in Four States, WV, Charles was a graduate of Monongah High School, Class of 1959, and a graduate of Fairmont State University, Class of 1963.

Charles served his country proudly in the United States Navy, from 1964 to 1966, completing 3 Tours of Duty in Vietnam detached to the United States Marine Corps.

After his time in the Navy, Charles taught at Fairmont High School and worked in the Park Service at Mammoth Cave before going to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During his time in the FBI Charles worked as a Special Agent in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and New York before retiring in 1999.

In his free time Charles loved to read, listen to music, and target shoot. He always enjoyed his time spent with friends and family. Charles took a special interest in spending as much time as possible with his only son.

Charles was the son of the late Charles and Anne Christopher, and husband of the late Janet Louise Wolf Christopher.
