Susan Staron Sanders, Class of 1971,
spearheaded the drive that brought $2,392.75 into the Monongah Christmas lights
campaign.
The Town of Monongah paid $278.97 for
the electricity to turn on the lights for the 28 days of Christmas.
Town Council also kicked in $1,000
for startup costs.
That came to $3,392.75 for the 8
Christmas street lights to with the 7 that White Hall donated originally.
After expenses, there’s $1,490.16 left
as Susan, Thomas
Street’s #1 elf, goes after even more
Christmas lights. The Grinch doesn’t have a chance in Monongah.
Susan
and husband Ron Sanders live on Thomas Street, next door to Mayor Greg Vandetta
and his wife, Janice Manzo Vandetta.
Susan
and Ron’s son, Tommy Sanders, is a WVU computer engineering graduate.
Ron is a
Vietnam veteran. Susan’s brother, Bob Staron, Class of 1967 (deceased), fought
in Vietnam.
There are skillions of stars in the
heavens. There’s a really bright star in Monongah. The initials are SSS.
