Susan Staron Sanders, Class of 1971,
and Ronald Eugene Gene Sanders will be celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 17. They
are going to Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, as they have for other recent
anniversaries.
In 2003
they renewed their wedding vows in Monongah’s Holy Spirit Catholic Church on
August 18.
Susan is president of the Monongah
Christmas Light Fund, which I call The Charge of the Lights Brigade. The
committee, under Susan’s leadership, is responsible for 26 Christmas streets
lights in Monongah when 5 more are added for 2018 Christmastime.
Susan
is former administrative assistant at Personnel. Rusan and Ron live in Monongah
on Thomas Street, next door to where the Olesky family rented before buying the
Church Street home. The Mangino
family was in the current Sanders home before moving to the Germantown section
of Philadelphia.
Susan and Ron’s son is Tommy Sanders.
Susan’s brother was Tom Staron, Class of 1965, “who taught me to drive his
Pontiac convertible. I loved that car. Love you brother and always will.”
And Ron, of course.
Tom,
Susan said, “was like a father to me after my Dad got hurt in the Four States
mine.”
Tom
lives in Parkersburg.
Susan’s brother Bob Staron, Class
of 1967, who fought in Vietnam, passed away.
