Vernon H. Fix, married to Monongah's Nancy Bombardiere Pettit, passed away.

Vernon and Nancy were “the perfect couple,” friend Susan Pilkington-morin wrote. They were together for 3 years and married for 2 years.

As Nancy’s daughter, Toni-Marie Knight, put it:

Vern had a zest for life, a love for Jesus, a love for his family, made my mama so very happy and was one of the kindest men in my life. So very sad we didn't have more time, but rest knowing he's in the presence of the Lord.”

Nancy’s response:
“So grateful to have had the time that we had together. He was one of the kindest and loving men I ever knew. During our time together he made me a better person. I will love him forever. I will miss him dearly but know I will see him again one day. Rest In Peace.”
Lynny Anne Pettit, Nancy Pettit’s granddaughter, recalls the time that she had a surprise reunion with Vern and Nancy in Des Moines, Iowa.

“We live 25 miles apart,” Lynny Anne wrote, “and ran into Nana and Vern in Des Moines, Iowa. So much fun connecting for dinner.”

Nancy came from Monongah and worked at Kroger.

Vernon served in the Air Force, is from Upland, California, went to Pomona Senior High, was a San Jose State graduate and was chairman of Brownell, Williams & Fix Insurance.

Toni-Marie Knight is from La Verne, California, went to Bonita High and works at Sunrise Church.
