Nellie
Fortney Haught, mother of Tammy Haught Vandergrift, Class of 1977, of Frankfurt, Kentucky and the
late Gary Haught, Class of 1971, passed away Saturday, June 2.
Nellie
was the widow of Jennings Haught. She lived with Gary on Traction Avenue in
Monongah this his passing in 2016.
Tammy,
who reported Nellie’s passing, wrote:
“Loved that woman so much.” She was known
as Tama Haught at Monongah High.
Nellie's sister is Mary Fortney Lambert of Monongah.
Brothers Richard Fortney, Bob Fortney, Eugene Fortney and Jim Fortney predeceased her.

Nellie’s
grandchildren include Shawn,
Jennifer and Sunnie, Gary’s children; and Christopher Vandergrift, Tammy’s
son, who lives in Lexington, Kentucky.
Nellie also has a great-grandson,
Isaac Maxwell Vandergrift, Christopher’s son.
Nellie’s obituary:
Nellie Mae Haught, 83, of Monongah,
passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018. She was born in Fairmont on April 8,
1935, daughter of the late Brooks Fortney and Margaret Burns Fortney.
Nellie was Methodist by faith. She
loved doing crafts and quilting. She made over 500 hats to support the fight
against cancer.
Nellie is survived by her daughter,
Tammy Vandergrift of Frankfort, KY; a sister, Mary Lambert of Monongah;
grandson, Christopher Vandergrift and wife Trenna of Lexington, KY; and great
grandson Isaac Vandergift.
In addition to her parents, she is
preceded in death by her husband, Jennings Haught; her son, Gary Allen Haught,
and brothers, Richard Fortney, Bob Fortney, Eugene Fortney, and Jim Fortney.
The family will receive friends at
Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018
from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, June
6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Preston officiating.
Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont. Online
