Dick Stalnaker, Class of 1965, passed
away Tuesday, May 1.
His sister, Rachel Vivian Stalnaker Sloan,
Class of 1962, posted the heart-breaking news on her Facebook page.
Dick, who had a Four States construction company, married
Rose E. Martin Stalnaker. They had three children. They attended the 2008
Monongah High Alumni Reunion.
Dick was the starting center for the Monongah High
football team and also was a starter on defense.
Rachel worked at Consol and has 11 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren. She’s from Four States but lives in Fairmont.
Visiting hours for Dick will be Thursday 2 pm
til 8 and Friday 11 am to noon. Funeral services at noon. Burial will be in
Shinnston.
There’s a Margaret Stalnaker, Class of 1942.
Judy Freeland Stalnaker is a 1983 North Marion grad.
Marguerite “Muggy” Matthews Stalnaker, Class of 1966, is
a sister of Rose Matthews Illich, Class of 1960, married to Nico “Nick” Ilich, and
Simon Matthews Jr., Class of 1956, whose widow is Shirley Smith Matthews, Class
of 1957.
Dick was the owner/operator of Stalnaker Construction for many years until his health forced him to retire. He was an outdoors man who loved animals, especially his horses, and enjoyed fishing and camping, horseback riding, and especially spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching western movies and was an avid Mountaineer and Steelers fan. He was Protestant by faith and loved the older hymns.
Mr. Stalnaker is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rose Ellen Martin Stalnaker; his daughter Stacey A. Honsaker; his twin sons John A. (Chrissy) Stalnaker and Billy O. (Lisa) Stalnaker, all of Four States; one brother Bill "Skip: Stalnaker of Springfield, Missouri; his sister Rachael V. Sloan of Fairmont; 10 grandchildren Nicole, James, Cassie, Cody, Richard, Donny, Hunter, Sam, Shataya and Aidan; four great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law Earlene Stalnaker of Texas and Linda Stalnaker of Fairmont; also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John A. and Wendell Stalnaker, and one sister-in-law, Barbara Stalnaker.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel) 320 Madison St., Fairmont from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to noon Friday. Services will be held in the funeral home at noon Friday with Pastor Sabrina Haught officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. "Dick" Stalnaker, 72, of Four States, passed suddenly from this life
Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. He was born in
Fairmont on March 6, 1946 a son of the late John Alfred and Roxie Fay Jordon
Stalnaker.
