Phillip L. Johnson, Sr., 85, of Fairview, passed
away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at his residence. He was born March 26, 1931
in Morgantown, a son of the late Henry and LouVerna Johnson.
Phillip was a Union dry waller, painter and finisher. He was also a veteran of the US Army stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Alcoholic Anonymous, whom he regarded as his 2nd family. He loved to fish and spend time with his family and his four legged companion toby who is still living at home. He also attended Noah’s Ark Church.
Survivors include eight children: Carol Sue Ashley of Fairview, Cheryl Ann Flint (Chuck) of Monongah, Kevin Leroy Johnson (Charlescina) of Texas, Richard Lee Johnson (Lisa) of Romney, Ronald Henry Johnson (Christine) of Morgantown, Phillip Leroy Johnson, Jr. (Myra) of Hutchinson, Robert Lee Johnson of Fairview, and Mary Ellen Perkins of Monongah; 20 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Mary Boyles and Charmaine Holmes both of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife Betty Irene Johnson in 2009,2 brothers and 6 sisters.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 2-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Delas Stuzen officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont where full military graveside honors will be rendered by the Marion County Veterans Council.
