Karen Cowger
of Four States & St. Barbara’s passes away
Karen Cowger, who also has lived in Worthington, passed away Wednesday,
Jan. 21 in her Four States home.
She worked at St. Barbara's Nursing Home in Monongah.

Karen Lou
Cowger, 63, of Four States passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at her
residence. She was born April 29, 1951 in Richwood to Harold and Geneva Hall
Smith and worked as a custodian at Fairmont General Hospital and St. Barbara’s
Nursing Home in Monongah and sold Avon, Blair and Tupperware.
She was a
homemaker and a “social butterfly.” She never met a stranger but was very much
a people person, befriending everyone she met. She enjoyed attending church at
TLC Ministries and participated in all the fundraising activities in the church
and the community. She liked to sew, crochet, and craft and enjoyed picnics and
animals.
Karen is
survived by her husband Kenny; daughter Twana (companion Rodney Sturm) Cowger
of Philippi; brothers Harold “H.D.” Smith of Everettsville and Ronnie “Bingo”
Smith of Charleston; sisters Wanda Frasier, Sue Long, Patty Smith, Connie
Miranov, Bonnie Lepoe and Chrissy Singleton; and grandson Gabriel Sturm. She
was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Darlene House.
Friends may
join the family for visitation on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 11:00 to 1:00
at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Karen’s life
will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Sabrina Haught officiating. Interment will
follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Replete.
