West Virginia, #1 in the teacher
movement
West Virginia’s teachers continue to
get credit for starting a national movement to increase teacher pay and
conditions in America’s schools.
This latest national story is just another
example of how West Virginia’s teachers, who had a nine-day walkout in all 55
countries that brought them a pay raise, have shown the way for teachers in
other states.
Oklahoma, Kentucky, Colorado, Arizona
and New Jersey teachers cite the West Virginia situation in seeking better
treatment in their states.
