Tom Dean a Tar Heel again
Tom Dean, back in North Carolina |
Tom Dean has moved from Lynch
Station, Virginia, were he lived with his late wife, Rosemarie Dean, for 11
years, to Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Reports
Tom: “I am back online. It will probably be a week before I'm
completely
unpacked, picture-hanging,
changing insurance, new car license, etc.”
Tom has three sons in Goldsboro and brother Jim, Class of 1945,
not that far away in LePlace, Louisiana. The sons work in Raleigh, Pine Level
and Fayetteville.
Tom and Rosemarie lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina
for 35 years before moving to Lynch Station, near where their daughter, retired
Colonel Pam Dean Mitchell, lives in Arlington, Virginia. But there are more
children and grandchildren near Goldsboro than Lynch Station, so Tom moved back
to Goldsboro.
Tom’s Air Force career took him to such places as Spain, Iceland
and Germany. Since Rosemarie’s passing Tom has taken trips throughout America
with his long-distance truck-driving son.
He also has been a
regular at Monongah High Alumni Reunions in Fairmont, which include visits to
Monie – Ramona Fullen Michalski, Class of 1951 – who lives in Monongah.
Tom’s brother, Charlest Robert “Chub” Dean, Class of 1954, and
Chub’s wife, Shirley Salisbury Dean, Class of 1957, have passed away.
Tom doesn't think that Margie Dean, Class of 1948, is related to him. But, as Tom added, "Who knows?"
