There will be a by-invitation-only birthday
party January 7, 2023 for Jeannette Barr Baczuk, Class of 1940, for her 100th
birthday!
It will happen in Ashland, Ohio, where
Jeannette has resided for decades.
Her children are Lynne Beecham, a widow
living in Bellville, Ohio; Jim Baczuk, married to Rachelle, of Thomas, West Virginia,
near the entrance to Blackwater Falls State Park; Maribeth Moore, a widow living
in Ashland; and Jan Penrose, living with husband Rodney in Mansfield, Ohio.
Jeannette’s grandchildren are Brian Moore of Atlanta; Stephen
Moore of Columbus, Ohio; Jessica Baczuk
of Thomas, West Virginia; and Adam and Rachel Penrose of Mansfield, Ohio.
Jeannette’s father
was the legendary Dr. James Monroe Barr, who delivered nearly the entire
population of Worthington. They are know as the Barr Babies.
Jeannette’s siblings include:
Suzanne Barr Loss, class of 1948, who married Arnold “J.B.”
Loss, Class of 1947. Both are deceased.
Harrelson Barr (deceased), Class of 1939, whose daughter,
Marcie Barr Marsh, is Class of 1966.
Jim Barr (deceased), Class of 1937.
After Monongah High, Jeannette graduated from Bowling Green
Business University in Kentucky and married Frank Baczuk, Class of 1943, in
1948.
Jeannette’s first job after college was at Westinghouse in
Fairmont. She started in the purchasing department and later became secretary
to the manager.
Jeannette and Frank moved to Ohio in 1952. After her
children were in school, she went back to work as a legal secretary for more
than 20 years.
Jeannette is a member of the American Mensa Society.
Until the covid interfered, she held three volunteer jobs.
She lived independently after Frank’s passing in 2006 and recently
moved to the Belmont Tower in Ashland.
She sold her car just a few months ago and decided to quit
driving, at least for now.
Her son, Jim Baczuk,
informed me that early in 2022 “she decided to move back to the Belmont Tower,
where she had lived for 19 months with my father when he was suffering from
Alzheimer’s.
“After he passed away she
bought a condo where she thrived for 15 years.” But covid came along,
“everything changed.
“She had to quit all three
of her part-time jobs and no longer was able to go out to meals with friends or
take trips with the Council on Aging.”
“She decided to move back
to Belmont Tower there were always people to talk to and she could have more
socialization.”
Jim added:
“Anyone that wants to wish
my mother a happy birthday could do so by mailing her a card to Jeannette Baczuk,
2140 Center St., Apt. 326, Ashland, OH 44805.”
