Update from Susan Staron Sanders:
31 lights total thanks to our wonderful Mayor and town Council.

Susan Staron Sanders, Class of 1971, is going after 4 more Christmas street lights for Monongah. That would bring the total to 30.

Susan is on the Monongah Town Council these days.

The plan is to put one of the street lights on the street where the late Jenny Shaver’s parents Rick and Gloria Sypult lived. That’s the same street where Sanford Carr, a former Monongah councilman, and Linda Carr, Class of 1967,  had a Christmas street light put up, so there will two on that street.

1989 North Marion grad Jenny Sypult Shaver passed away July 17 after battling her illnesses for years.

Susan and husband Ron Sanders live on Thomas Street.

Susan’s campaign began in 2015 after White Hall donated 7 Christmas street lights that it was replacing to Monongah.

By the time Susan is finished astronauts will need sunglasses when they check out Monongah’s streets during Christmastime.

The Christmas street lights cost $275 or more, depending on the light you choose.
