In Googling while doing research on a
different Monongah High graduate I stumbled onto this sad news that was never
reported on this blog:
Shirley Williams Ash Ebbinghaus Biggs,
Class of 1954, passed away in 2011 in Warren, Ohio, where she had lived since
the 1960s.
She was at the 2004 Monongah High
Alumni Reunion with her Class of 1954 for the 50-year anniversary.
Shirley played the piano and organ at
her First Church of God in Warren.
At Monongah High, Shirley was in
county chorus, on the newspaper staff, on the yearbook staff and in the Junior
Red Cross.
She married Edward Ash, Earl
Ebbinghaus and, in 2005, Robert Biggs. Bob survives Shirley.
Shirley has three children – Luella,
who also lives in Warren; Carl Ash, who lives in Shinnston; and Tammy Schwartz,
who lives in Howland, Ohio. Shirley’s sister, Janice, lives in Enterprise.
Leona May Ash of Four States also was
in the Class of 1954. Reva McDougal, Class of 1950, married a John Ash.
Shirley’s parents were Opal Parrish
Williams and Vernon Williams.
Even though I’m six years late with
the news I think there are former Lions who also missed her passing who would
want to know.
